GOVERNOR BUNI PRAISES PRESIDENT BUHARI FOR EFFORTS TOWRDS PEACE IN YOBE AND THE NORTHEAST
The Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his untiring efforts at restoring peace and normalcy particularly to the troubled north eastern part of the country.
Gov.Buni who was speaking at the endof the 2022 Machina Annual Cultural Festival MACUF, acknowledged that there is now a significant improvement in the security situation in the Northeast, particularly in Yobe State.
The Yobe State Governor also commended the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan for providing the right leadership at the National Assembly and for providing what he described as the much-needed support and cooperation to enable the Executive Arm of Government perform.
He disclosed that overwhelming marmot congregation that witnessed the cultural festival is an indication and glaring evidence that the security situation in Yobe state and beyond has improved.
Buni thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the security personnel the required resources to secure lives and property in the Country.
“As a result of this, the people in the northeastern part of the Country can now sleep with their two eyes closed.
“In case there is still anybody in doubt, this large congregation at this event is enough proof that the security situation has improved,”.. Buni said.
The Governor also attributed the relative peace in the state to the roles played by the traditional rulers, other community leaders and Imams whose prayers he said, have been answered.
Another contributing factor according to Gov. Buni is the leadership role of the Senate President at the legislative arm towards providing cooperation and support needed for the executive arm to deliver on its mandate to the people.
“He was voted here as a Senator because this is his constituency. But God has made him Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
“Since he assumed office as Senate President, the support and cooperation that he gives the executive arm of government led by President Muhammadu Buhari have brought about the development in the country that we are witnessing today.
“That cooperation and support by the current National Assembly are what is responsible for the development we are seeing today in Nigeria because the first four years of President Buhari, he did not enjoy this kind of cooperation and support by the National Assembly.
“This is why we are seeing projects of national and rural development and the likes and these projects will get to you here very soon,” Buni said.
The colorfulweak long event which also saw the conferment of traditional titles on theSenate President, Gov. Buni and counterparts from Kebbi, and Jigawa states was witnessed by the Shehu of Borno, HRH. Alhaji Abubakar Umar GarbaiIbn Al – Kanemi.
Other dignitaries that graced the occasion include a representative of the President of Niger Republic, the Emir of Gombe, Emirs of Bama, Biu and Hadejia among others.
The Emir of Machina, Alhaji Bashir Bukar Al-Albishir Machinama, while performing this function, said the emirate is overwhelmed with the presence of the dignitaries from far and wide noting it demonstrate cordiality and support given the by government and well-wisher and Machina remains indebted to all who all who have made the occasion a success.
The Emirate he said is conferring on the President of the Senate Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan with the title of ‘Dan Masanin Machina’, Governor Mai Mala Buni, conferred with Zanna Gargamma of Machina, Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu is the Dan Maliki Machina while Jigawa Governor Abubakar Badaru, and is given the Dokajin Machina.
YOBE DECLARES 1ST JULY EVERY YEAR, EDUCATION DAY
Yobe State Government has declared 1st July of every year to be celebrated as Education Day in the state.
The declaration was made by the State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni at the official launching ceremony of the Yobe State Maiden Education Day and enhanced School Feeding Program and distribution of 100,000 Textbooks and Modern laboratory equipment to Secondary Schools across the State.
Speaking at the launching ceremony which held at the Government Girls College Damaturu, Governor Buni said, he is impressed with the performance of the students in national Examinations, saying is a positive indication of collective efforts to equip the future generations with the required prerequisites for self-actualization and prosperous future of the State.
He added that …“it is only when we have well educated and equipped citizenry that the State can exploit its richly endowed human and natural resources”.
The Governor also said that the education sector was the most affected sector at the peak of the insurgency attacks hence the need for prompt and definite action to be taken for a speedy recovery to facilitate the socio-economic development of the State.
Governor Buni further noted that his administration has demonstrated the adequate political will to salvage the education sector by convening the first-ever education summit, constituting of a technical committee for the revitalization of Basic and Secondary Education, splitting of the defunct Ministry of Education into the Ministry of Higher Education, and Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the introduction of the improved school feeding program, constructions of model and mega schools, training and retraining of Teachers and other administrative drives all geared towards moving education forward in the State.
Highlights of the occasion are the distribution of Textbooks, Laboratory equipment to various Schools across the State.

GOV BUNI SYMPATHIZES WITH VICTIMS OF NGURU CENTRAL MARKET INFERNO ASSURES PROVISIN OF FIRE PROFF MATERIALS
Governor Mai Mala Buni has expressed dismay over the sad news of inferno that razed down Nguru central Market.
The Governor showed concern when he paid a sympathy visit to the scene of the incident in Nguru.
He described the incident which has become a yearlyincident that continued to bring down traders means of livelihood as sad and unfortunate urging victim to take it as an act of God.
Governor Buni said, his administration is committed to building modern markets with fireproof materials and free access to roads with firefighters within the market to safeguard the traders and their means of livelihood.
He directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assess the level of damages and furnish the Government with the details.
The Governor further prayed to Almighty Allah to avert future occurrences.

The 15th of January of every year is set aside by the Federal Government to remember those who sacrificed their lives while serving their fatherland during various wars and conflicts within and outside the country.

GOV BUNI INSPECTS GASHUA MODERN MARKET
Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni has paid an inspection visit to the Gashua modern market which is at its completion stage.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with the quality and level of work at the project site.
He said the project would soon be commissioned assuring that the stall and stores would be allocated directly to the traders, adding that there would be no middle man between the government and the traders in the allocation of the stores.
The Governor urged the would-be beneficiaries, to exhibit maintenance culture and safety measures to enjoy maximum benefits of the market.
Conducting. The Governor round the project site, the State Commissioner of Commerce and Tourism, Alhaji Barma Shettima said, the Gashua modern market would be handed over to Government in the next few weeks, saying that the contractors are now putting finishing touches to the project.
He said the Buni administration has also spent Millions of Naira in 2021, for the provision of potable drinking water, healthcare delivery, housing projects and transportation among others.
“”The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba) has carried out series of roads and drainage constructions, rehabilitations and provisions of the following: construction of stone base 46km Nguru town, Balanguwa-kamaganam in Nguru and Yusufari Local Government Area is currently ongoing.
‘’’’Equally, construction of an 18 km road bridge from Danchuwa-Bula to Garin Bingel and a 12km access road from Damagum-Gubana is currently ongoing.
‘’’’Furthermore, 2.6km township road at Potiskum, rehabilitation of 50km road from Damaturu-Buni Yadi, Dr Shehu Sule School of Nursing and Midwifery benefited 1.5km road and 3km concrete drainage within the premises.
“Rehabilitation of Jajimaji-Karasuwa road in Karasuwa Local Government Area was completed successfully. Construction of a 25km dual carriage road from Damaturu-Kalallawa that links with Cargo International Airport,” he said.

LAMIN SCORES BUNI HIGH ON ECONOMY, DEVELOPMENT…………………….SAYS GOVERNOR EMPOWERED 4,900 WITH START-UP GRANT IN 2021
The Yobe state Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Hon Mohammed Liman has said that Governor Mai Mala Buni, has performed wonderfully well in all aspects of human development, especially in the areas of road construction, housing as well as economy among others.
Lamin, who was speaking at the end of year press briefing in Damaturu said, the commitments of Governor Buni towards the welfare of the citizens of the state clearly demonstrates his willingness to uplift the living status of the people.
The Commissioner stated that many towns and villages that hitherto have no access roads have been provided with them, while the construction of modern markets awarded by the administration in Damaturu, Gashu`a, Nguru, and Potiskum are at various stages of completion.
The Commissioner Information, Hon Mohammed Lamin, said the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has empowered 3400 and 1500 woman in the State with N20,000 as well as N50,000 start-up grant each in 2021 fiscal year respectively.
Lamin said Governor Buni has, in the area of human development, touched the lives of many, especially woman thoroughly across the 17 Local Government Areas of State.
“About 3400 rural woman in all the 17 Local Government areas were paid the sum of 20,000 each as cash grant amounts to N68 Million.
“Another 1500 rural woman were given N50,000 each, as start-up grant for them to sustain an average living which costs the Government the sum of N76 Million.”
The Commissioner stated that the Governor has also supported several vulnerable families among others, needy with food and non-food items to cushion the effects of the hardship at different times of the year.
“Within Damaturu, 150 bags of food were distributed to the needy in the community. Another 7000 bags of rice, 1000 gallons of vegetable oil, 1000 cartons of tomato paste, 1500 sleeping mats, 3000 wrappers, 1500 cartons of spaghetti, 1000 blankets and bales of clothe were distributed to the victims of insurgency at Geidam town.

He described the workshop organized by the National association of women journalist (NAWOJ) in collaboration with Norwegian union of journalist (Norsk journalist lag) as a welcome development adding that such wouldn’t have come at a better time than now.
The commissioner said as the state is striving towards recovery, all hands must be on deck to ensure sustenance of peace and safety adding the role of journalists in this cannot be over emphasized.
Lamin disclosed that government is fully committed to enhancing the Information and media sector thus the Journalist must play its parts in the peace and recovery process in the state.
In her speech at the workshop, National President of NAWOJ Ladi Bala, said the effort is aimed at equipping the female journalists with the technical knowhow in the reportage and dissemination of information about Gender, their safety on the field and identify challenges in the process of performing their duties with a view to addressing them.
She thanked Yobe state government and people forthe hospitality and support accorded her right from during Election till date disclosing that the workshop is an appreciation of the kind gesture. Ladi was optimistic that the female journalists will justify the confidence at the end of the workshop.

The low turnout of Yobians for the ongoing COVID-19 Mass Vaccination in the state has necessitated advocacy to the 14 Emirate Councils across the state in order to seek for traditional leaders support in the ongoing COVID-19 mass vaccination in the state.
The State Primary Health Care Management Board with the support of resident development partners in the state has embarked on Advocacy, where the Executive Secretary of the BoardDr. Babagana Kundi Machina, informed the Emirs across emirates visited that the purpose of the advocacy visit, is to seek for their fatherly support in helping to reach out to their subjects to come out in large numbers and be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Speaking further, the Executive Secretary of the agency, said, “health is a top priority of the current administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni and that all the necessary support have been given by the state governor to ensure that health care services is prioritized, improved and promoted for the benefit and interest of the people of Yobe”. Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina used the opportunity during the Advocacy visit to sensitize the Emirs on the misuse of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food popularly known as RUTF by some dubious persons within the LGA especially in the health facilities where the drugs are kept for usage on malnourished children. Dr. Kundi Machina expressed his utmost sadness and disappointment over how some dubious persons within the health facilities are conniving with others in diverting RUTF consumables for personal use. The Executive Secretary emphasized that “thefts and misuse of RUTF have been reported in various fora-CMAM monthly meetings, trip reports, field visits and so on.
The executive secretary was also at the Potiskum local government council for the same purpose.
In his brief remark, the Chairman of Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari represented by his Vice Hon. Adamu Hamza Ngojin thanked the Executive Secretary and his team for the Advocacy visit.
He also assured the Executive Secretary that Potiskum Local Government Council will soon come out with new strategies aimed at attracting and encouraging its people to get vaccinated in the ongoing COVID-19 mass vaccination in the LGA.
On the diversion of RUTF consumables in the LGA, Hon. YOBE LIFTS BAN ON MOTORCYCLE
Yobe State Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni has approved the lifting of the ban on riding motorbikes in zone B and zone C in the State.
This is contained in a statement signed and issued by the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Brigadier General Dahiru Abubakar (retired), and made available to the newsmen in Damaturu.
The statement said the ban is lifted with the effects from 10th, January 2022 in the 10 Local Government Areas of Fika, Fune, Nangere, Potiskum, Bade, Machina, Nguru, Jakusko, Karasuwa, and Yusufari Local Government Areas.
According to the release, the motorbikes are to operate between 6 am and 6 pm daily and warned that the motorbikes are not to be used for commercial purposes such as Achaba, adding that only a rider would be allowed on the motorbike.
The release added that there should be proper registration, licensing, and documentation of all motorbikes and riders in the affected Local Government Areas by the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) and is to operate within their respective Local Government Areas only. It also stated that there should be no inter-Local Government Areas movement with motorbikes and warned that anyone found violating these rules should be appropriately sanctioned and charged all security agencies to monitor and to ensure strict compliance with these directives.

Gov. Buni launches school feeding program, 100,000 text books in Government Unity College Damaturu.
The Yobe state Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today launched the distribution of 100,000 educational text books and laboratory equipment to public schools across the state.
Gov. Buni said the procurement and distribution of text books to the schools was to support government’s drive to revitalize basic education to provide a strong foundation for the development of education in Yobe State.
“I am particularly delighted with this occasion marking the launching of the Maiden Education Day and Enhanced School Feeding Programme and Distribution of 100,000 Text books and modern laboratory equipment to secondary schools in the state.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the state’s performance in the education sector, saying “we have strong reasons to celebrate the impressive achievements recorded in the basic and secondary education.
“I am particularly impressed with the usage of modern instruments and application of a combination of conventional and innovative techniques in teaching and learning processes which the Ministry invented in our schools” he said.
Gov. Buni said “I am excited that we can today proudly tell our stories of success on the account of hard work and commitment of the state government following the declaration of State of Emergency on Education by this administration.”
He noted that the declaration of emergency has yieldedImpressive performance by students in national examinations.
Similarly, the Governor launched improved school feeding programme with chicken and egg introduced to the menu of public boarding schools across the state.
Meanwhile the Governor has declared 1st July of every year to be celebrated as Education Day in the state.
The state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Dr Muhammad Sani, described the success recorded in the education sector as unprecedented.

The Handing and taking over ceremony took place at the office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, State Secretariat Complex Damaturu.
In his remarks shortly after taking over the mantle of leadership, the new Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Hamidu Alhaji, Solicited for the Support and Cooperation of the staff.
Hamidu Alhaji who thanked the outgoing Permanent Secretary for the warm welcome he and the staffs of the Ministry accorded to him on his assumption.
He used the medium to wish the outgoing Permanent Secretary success in his future endeavors.
Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing permanent Secretary Alhaji Ali Usman Ahmed said he had an excellent cordial relationship with the staff during his one year stay in the Ministry.
