The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, today chaired the State Security Council Meeting in Damaturu, where key decisions were taken to strengthen security across the state. The meeting was attended by heads of all security agencies operating in Yobe State.
The council reviewed the current security situation and identified areas that require urgent improvement to sustain peace and stability in the state.
Expansion of Operation Haba Maza
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Affairs, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), announced the expansion of “Operation Haba Maza” into a joint security outfit to include all security agencies.
According to him:
“From now henceforth, we shall also have the Operation Haba Maza outfit in Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, Geidam, and Buni Yadi.”
The expansion is aimed at strengthening internal security and ensuring rapid response to emerging threats across the state.
Boosting Logistics and Proactive Measures
Governor Buni has also approved an increase in logistics support to security agencies operating in the state to enhance their efficiency and mobility in tackling crime.
On the recent temporary closure of three weekly markets, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam explained that it was a proactive measure to safeguard lives and property:
“There are ongoing operations in those areas, and the security agencies are working ahead to avoid surprises.”
Call for Public Cooperation
The Special Adviser urged residents to support security agencies and cooperate with ongoing operations, assuring that the state government and security outfits remain committed to sustaining the current level of peace and security in Yobe.
