Yobe State to Revolutionize Agriculture -Gov. Buni

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming agriculture into an attractive and profitable sector for residents. The governor shared this vision in his Eid-el-Kabir message, emphasizing the launch of a large-scale agricultural programme designed to enhance food security and economic activities across the state.

In a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Buni highlighted the importance of the rainy season as an opportunity for residents to engage in agricultural production.

“Our administration will soon unveil a massive agricultural revolution to make farming more attractive, productive, and profitable. This initiative aims to meet our food requirements while producing surpluses for export to drive economic growth,” Governor Buni stated.

Encouragement for Active Participation

The governor urged the people of Yobe to take full advantage of the upcoming programme, aligning with the state’s broader development agenda. “This initiative offers a chance for everyone to contribute to building a better Yobe,” he said.

Commitment to Peace and Security

Governor Buni commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to improving security in the Northeast and the country at large. He called on the people of Yobe to continue supporting security agencies and to cooperate in fostering peace and stability.

“The peace, security, and prosperity of Nigeria are paramount. Let us intensify our prayers for our leaders to be guided in ensuring increased peace and prosperity,” he added.

Promoting Unity and Resilience

Reflecting on the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir, Governor Buni encouraged the virtues of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence. “These values should extend beyond the Eid celebrations to help us build a peaceful, strong, and united country,” he emphasized.

The governor also praised the resilience of the people of Yobe in rebuilding their communities and recovering livelihoods after years of insecurity.

Deputy Governor’s Message

Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) led government officials in the Eid prayers at the Yobe Mosque Eid Ground in Damaturu. Addressing reporters afterward, he urged residents to remain focused and resilient, noting that economic challenges are global and not unique to Nigeria.

“As Muslims, we must intensify prayers for improved security, economic stability, and a bountiful harvest for our country,” Gubana stated. He also encouraged the faithful to embody the teachings of the Holy Prophet by promoting love, tolerance, and unity.

Government Officials in Attendance

The Eid prayers were attended by key government officials, including the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, the State Grand Khadi, commissioners, members of the state and national assemblies, permanent secretaries, and heads of boards and parastatals.

This Eid-el-Kabir, Yobe State is not only celebrating but also laying the groundwork for a brighter and more prosperous future through transformative initiatives in agriculture and social development.
