Deputy Governor

Engineer Abubakar D. Ali, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State and the Yerima of Yindiski, a seasoned administrator as well as a politician was born on the 5th of April, 1966 in Yola of Adamawa State.
His father, Alhaji Ali Potiskum enrolled him in a family Islamic School where he received extensive Islamic education that developed his quest for more education.
The Deputy Governor started his early education in 1973 at central Primary School Jimeta where he proceeded to Government Science Secondary School Monguno Borno State in 1984.
As the saying goes that greatness begins with setting goals, the Deputy Governor has the zeal of contributing to the development of his society right from the childhood that is why in 1986, he obtained a diploma certificate in Civil Engineering from the Kaduna Polytechnic, that qualifies him to go for his Higher National Diploma in the same course (Civil Engineering) at the same institution in 1991.
In 1998, he bagged his first degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maidugury.
Engineer Abubakar is a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (MNSE) as well as member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
He joined the Civil service in 1987 as a Project Engineer in former Borno State. With the creation of Yobe State he was promoted to the rank of the Managing Director (MD) Housing and Property Development Corporation. Through his hard work and dedication, he rose to the post of Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing.
He left the Civil Service in 2009, where he joined politics on invitation and necessary and later decided to remain in politics by choice.
The Deputy Governor has contributed immensely to the social and infrastructural development of Yobe State and the country at large.
He is married and blessed with many children.
